2016 Advocis President's Message

Dear Fellow Chapter Members,

I hope you all had a great 2015 and enjoyed the holidays!  I am excited and honored to be serving as President of Advocis Calgary and am looking forward to the year ahead.  Your chapter board has been working hard to finalize our 2016 program and social events and we have a great line up for you this year.

I’m sure we’ve all been asked “What value does Advocis offer?”  Advocis provides a platform of knowledge, advocacy, community, fellowship and protection, advancing the professionalism of financial advisors and planners in the best interest of the consumer.  Advocis is in active discussions with over 50 regulators and government bodies and met with hundreds of politicians through lobbying efforts.
Have you ever taken the time to consider how things in our Industry would be like today without Advocis?  Consultations on topics such as statutory fiduciary duty, imbedded commissions, the Advocis Professions Model, Political Action Committees, Best Practices, etc.  benefits all of us. 

Our history has shown we have the ability to influence decision making at the highest levels.  New challenges and opportunities will continue to present themselves. Every impact you have as a member is multiplied by the power of our numbers and it is vital that our membership be strong and engaged.  I encourage all of you to take an active role in our local chapter and to inspire those around you to become Advocis members.
I must thank our sponsors for their generous support of Advocis Calgary.  Without you it would be impossible to offer the programs and events that we do.

I also want to thank all of our volunteers who work so hard to make the various events successful throughout the year.  Your support is appreciated!
