Alberta Legislature Day is on November 6, 2013 – Mark Your Calendar

On Wednesday, November 6, 2013, Advocis will be holding its third annual Legislature Day in Edmonton. Legislature Days are an important part of our government relations strategy. They give financial advisors the opportunity to discuss with their MLA the key issues that matter most to them, their business and their clients.

With 1,500 members in Alberta, Advocis has a strong voice with which to carry our message to elected officials regarding regulatory and investor protection issues affecting financial advisors and consumers in the province. This is particularly important in an environment in which regulators are contemplating the banning of commissions and the introduction of a costly fiduciary standard for financial advisors. Politicians need to know that Advocis has an alternative approach, one that will secure both our future and that of our clients.

Alberta Legislature Day will incorporate a series of meetings throughout the day that Advocis members set up with their MLAs. We will have the opportunity to sit in the legislature gallery and be recognized in the Chamber. The meetings will be followed by a reception at the Royal Glenora Club (11160 River Valley Road Northwest – Strathcona / Glenrose Room) at 5:30 p.m., where members can continue the day’s discussions with their MLAs in a more relaxed setting.
