On Tuesday, November 5th, YOU can save a life!

On Tuesday, November 5th, Advocis Calgary is sponsoring a Blood Donor day in conjunction with Canadian Blood Services.   The need for blood in our city is never ending.  Medical treatments, accidents, and surgeries all require blood.  It’s amazing that the entire system is based on people like you that volunteer an hour of their time to donate blood. In that hour, you are directly responsible for saving lives.

If you have never donated before I encourage you to give it a try! The staff at Canadian Blood Services will take very good care of you- they are very welcoming and knowledgeable.  They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The process is easy, relatively painless, and at the end of it all you will be encouraged to eat a cookie and take a night off from the gym.  All in all, a very rewarding experience.

If you are not sure if you are eligible to donate, or if you have any questions, check out www.blood.ca, or call 1-800-2- DONATE.  This is the same number you can call to book your appointment on November 5.  The clinic is conveniently located at 737 13th Ave SW in the beltline area. They have a 20 stall parking lot, and there is also street parking available.

At Advocis Calgary we are very aware of the philanthropic nature of our members- it is proven again and again at our charity fundraising events such as the golf tournament. Donating blood is a great way to give back to our community in a different way that doesn’t cost you anything financially.
